Wake County Republicans to Protest, Condemn Gov. Cooper and AG Stein’s Attempt to Block Voter ID from having Day in Court

Raleigh, NC — Studies show that North Carolinians overwhelmingly support Voter ID. So why is Governor Cooper and Attorney General Stein trying to squash the efforts made by our state to enforce a law that the people want? As we’ve already witnessed countless times, they seem to have their own agenda. Earlier in the week, Cooper and Stein attempted to illegally fire attorneys hired by the General Assembly to defend the Voter ID case before the Supreme Court. “North Carolina citizens want voter ID, and we deserve to be treated like the 30 other states that have it, ” said Wake County Republican Charles Hellwig. “Cooper and Stein’s politically motivated move to block voter ID would keep North…

CYNDI LAUPER TURNS NORTH CAROLINA SHOW INTO BENEFIT FOR LGBT COMMUNITY

“Sadly, once again, the civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people have been trampled on with the recent passage of HB2 in North Carolina. Me and my team at the True Colors Fund have been closely monitoring the situation in North Carolina and support the efforts of the Human Rights Campaign, Equality North Carolina, and others to repeal HB2 in the upcoming legislative session. The pressure to repeal HB2 is building and it is beautiful. In the dark haze of such oppression, people and companies are stepping up to fight back against this unjust law and ensure that all North Carolinians are treated with dignity and respect, especially the transgender community. I have…

And One Thing Lead To Another….

Today (January 27th, 2012), I decided to visit my local art museum and see what they offered.  Since the closing of the Fayetteville Museum, I have wondered where they would now showcase the art of the triangle community. After some searching, I came across two right here in Fayetteville. I will proudly admit my dear readers that I am very “cheap” when it comes to finding entertainment and new things to do. The first place I stumbled upon was Cape Fear Studios which was actually established in 1989 and features national and local artists.  It seemed small and not really fitting the idea of what I deemed a “gallery”. With that frame…

Daniel Stowe Botanic Gardens “Orchid Spectacular” Takes You Away From The Winter Blues

Living Archways

Just outside of Belmont, North Carolina there are over 100 acres of gardens waiting to be explored at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens.  From willow mazes to garden fountains these gorgeously laid out botanic wonders offer a full sensory experience to visitors young and old year round.  However on this cool, rainy January day it was to the Orchid Conservatory to which my family and I slogged through the puddles and drips.  The five story, 8000 square foot conservatory houses thousands of tropical plants including orchids, and it was the orchids that I wanted to see. Starting January 20th and extending to March 18 the Conservatory is hosting it’s “Orchid Spectacular” and spectacular it is. …

Mellow Out With The Mushroom

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-Pizza has become one the americas favorite eats. Anything can go when it comes to pizza, but in a world where glueten free is becoming the norm, what pizza has risen to the challenge (no pun intended)? Now just in case you look at the name of the resturant and decide you would rather not, PLEASE reconsider. Imagine tasting a pizza made from spring water, which does have a distinct taste compared to other doughs made from the tap. Now how about fresh homemade ingridents  like garlic/pasta sauce, a freshly tossed salad, and a friendly atmosphere to boot? Well look no further because the California based resturant has found its way into Fayetteville, and these shroomies know how to…
